Frequently asked questions

An application site rejects my file as "too large". What should I do?

Type the largest size the site accepts (e.g. 500 KB) and choose your file. The PDF or photo is brought under it, and you can preview it before downloading.

What if I type a very small size?

If the text would become unreadable, it is not shrunk further; the smallest readable result is saved and you are told. You can split the document and upload the parts separately if needed.

Can I shrink photos too?

Yes. JPG, PNG and WebP photos are brought under the target size; it works for passport and ID photos too.

Is Reduce size free?

Yes. One file a day needs no account at all. Sign up free with email and password to use every tool without limits for a year; no credit card needed.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. It is processed in your browser on your own device; your file is never sent to a server or stored.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in the browser on Android phones, iPhones, tablets and computers; nothing to install.

Is there a file size limit?

Without an account, one file a day (up to 10 MB) is processed right away. With a free account, large files and unlimited files are processed too.
